This past weekend Sydney and I took a trip a couple of hours north-west of Denver to Rock Mountain National Park. Having been here in Colo. for a couple of years now I’ve been wanting to get up and camp in the RMNP for a while. We finally got our chance and made the trip up there this past weekend. Below are a few of my favorite images from the trip. Most of which were shot on our last morning up there when I finally managed to get up before sunset and get to some great locations when the light was just perfect.
Be sure to click on the panoramic shots to view them larger, these small images do not give the area justice. To view some more images from the trip click to read
Mr. Adams,
I am just wondering if I could get your permission to paint your Moraine Park photograph? It is just stunning. My family has been to Moraine park many times and we love this creek. Thank you for your consideration.
Hi Katie,
Yes you have my permission to paint the photograph, my only request is that I’d like to see it when it’s done. I try to paint sometimes, so I would love to see how it comes out.
-Sam
No problem! I will start on it in 3 weeks! Its going to be large! Thank you so much!
I worked at the Grand Lake Lodge for three summer seasons and have driven through the Rocky Mountain National Park more times than I count. It’s been a while since those days and it’s wonderful to travel through that beautiful place via your photos! Absolutely beautiful!
Stunning!
I really enjoy the Aspen Grove image and how it is able to capture the sun’s rays to perfectly. It gives it a sense of freshness and it reminds me of the smell of early morning dew.
Great adventure Great shot.
These are postcard-worthy. Nice 🙂
Wow, absolutely beautiful!
Having been to this park late in 2011, it was great seeing photos of places to which I’ve visited. Nice photography.
Cool photos, well done!
BEAUTIFUL photos! What a awesome trip it must have been.
The colours and the clarity of the light are quite extraordinary – thanks for sharing these gorgeous images 😉
Your photos are absolutely stunning! Thank you for the beautiful views!
I have a WordPress photography page as well, I really enjoy sharing beauty with others.
Very beautiful ! I enjoy all the images! Great adventure !
I was racking my brain to think of Moraine Park…Then I realized this isn’t the Rockies at Jasper near Moraine LAke – It’s Colorado! Gorgeous there too 🙂
I had to double take when it listed “Moraine” too. I’m from the States, but have been living in Edmonton for four years…. I still think there will only be one Moraine for my life time… and that’s the one in the Canadian Rockies…. so utterly breath-taking! The last time we visited, a man came out with his triple flute to play…. the moment was priceless and I don’t know if it could ever be beat.

The panoramic title Rocky Mountain National Park (5th one down) is amazing and I’m insanely jealous of the two people hiking along the trail. You’ve inspired me to follow in your footsteps and blaze my own trail in that direction.
Beautiful pictures of a place I adore!
Wow, i wanna play there! haha, beautiful, thanks!
Every single one of these pictures is amazing ! Superb post.
beutifull!!
Great pictures! I always enjoy pictures of my home state (born in Grand Junction, raised in Gunnison) – especially since I live in the flatlands now (Nebraska). Have you checked out the Black Canyon of the Gunnison — if you like RMNF, you will LOVE that part of Colorado. Also check out Lake City and San Cristobel Lake (and of course, the burial site of Alfred Packard’s victims). Lots of great places to explore in Colorado — hope you get to see them all!
Congrats on being Freshly Pressed.
I have goosebumps 🙂 I’m from Alberta (at the other end of the Rockies) I love the mountains. Congrats on FP!
Beautiful shots! Nature rocks, doesn’t it?

Wow, amazing photos and really breath-taking scenery! We were trying to find places like this to visit, so now we definitely have a good idea of where to go! Thanks for sharing and congrats on being freshly pressed!
Wow! Thank you all for the wonderful comments, and great to see I was mentioned on Freshly Pressed. It was my first time visiting the park this past summer, and definitely a memorable one.
I cannot wait to go back this summer.
Beautiful shots! Love and miss those majestic Rocky mountains!
the pics are gorgeous, and when I see pics such as these, it restores my faith in the beauty of our country. I live in NY, the city, and gosh, to see pictures of parks is like getting a breath of fresh air.

Isn’t Colorado beautiful? My husband and I are both Colorado natives. Although no longer living in Colorado, the Rockies will always fill us with wonder and feel like home! Wonderful photographs!
I grew up going to this park, and these photos capture it perfectly. It’s probably one of the most beautiful places in the U.S.
beautiful, these pictures are amazing!
Keep going!

Great dawn to dusk pictures of one of the most photographed National Park.
Some great photos here, especially the panoramas. I was lucky enough to grow up near the park – thanks for capturing its beauty!
Beautiful Photos!!! =)
If your goal in posting these beautiful pictures was to make me absolutely miserable in New York City, then congratulations because you have achieved your goal. These pictures are absolutely incredible, and make me long to escape the concrete jungle and head immediately to Rocky Mountain National Park. Your photography skills are top-notch, and you did a great job of capturing the beauty of the landscape. Thank you so very much for sharing this with the world!

Amazing pictures- i can almost feel all the textures of the season – amazing
Brings back losts of memories of being both in Rocky Mountain National Park and the Canandian Rockies. Thanks!
Love the sunrise over trail ridge road and the night time campsite shot is very atmospheric. Beautiful photos.
wow,,, nice…^^
Beautiful pictures. We are headed there this summer. Were the campgrounds empty this time of year? In summer which campground do you recommend?
The ossom World created by god
Awesome shots, very inspirational. Makes me want to go there right now at this minute. Simply spectacular!!
Some beautiful shots. I visited the Rockies a few years ago and loved it. It was so beautiful and I was in a constant state of awe as we walked around.
My state has been really pushing for the
nature tourists. I don’t how that will work
out though, its most notible destinations
are mosquito infested swamps and wet-
lands. They are beautiful in pictures but,
you’ll have to be really dedicated to have
any fun there. 😦 All I can say is – steer
clear of the summer if you plan on
visiting the gulf coast.
This is a WONDERFUL set of photos! I love nature photography art writing science and medical phonomina and helping people! Haa, I dont know if Im left brained or right brained sometimes lol 🙂 My favorite shot is the one with the light coming through the trees! So gorgeous and peaceful :))
Absolutely Stunning x
This brings back some happy memories – it’s a wonderful part of the World. Awesome photos too – I especially like the sunrise on Trail Ridge.
I love your photos!
Fantastic pictures.
Beautiful. I used to live with this park in my back yard, but didn’t own a camera or have any interest. I’m really kicking myself now 😀
Beautiful. I was born/raised in Montana and grew up with a photographer father. Your photos bring back so many wonderful memories, in content and style.
These are beautiful photos. I visited the Denver area over the summer (I hail from Chicago) and it was my first time seeing the Rockies in person. So majestic and awe-inspiring. All I can think about most days is returning–you’re so lucky to be surrounded by such beauty and to make such great art of it.
Your pictures are so beautiful! Thank you for sharing!
Living on the western side of Rocky Mountain National Park I always enjoy seeing the park and its fleeting moments through another photographer’s lens. Each of us sees the park in a slightly different way and captures different unique moments.
Fantastic photography! . . . . Like and Follow 😀
It’s beautiful! I want to go. Totally inspiring.
I really love the picture of the bull elk. It is really cool that you got so close to him. I used to live in that area, It was awesome. I like the pics
Um, sooooo….can i get a couple classes…and your camera…LOL. No, for real, what camera are you using and what lens? They are so beautiful. Did you use Adobe Photoshop?
Lovely pictures. Would like to go there some time.
Wow, now those are some stunning photos. While I was reading over the comments I noticed you allowed someone to share the photos which I thought was so very kind of you. I see a great deal of kindness here. The greatest being the donation of your time to share these photos with us all. Keep on blogging. AWESOME!

Some beautiful shots. I visited the Rockies a few years ago and loved it. It was so beautiful and I was in a constant state of awe as we walked around.
Rocky Mnt is absolutely beautiful! Although I personally think that Yellowstone is even prettier (if it’s at all possible) so if you haven’t taken photos there you totally should! So many colors and textures with the geysers and the giant buffalo! Great pics!
wow, such beautiful pictures…. reminds me of some wonderful trips i’ve had there.
Wonderful photographs, thanks for sharing with us, MJ
This is some of the most stunning photography I’ve ever seen. It’s my passion to get to do some of this kind of work too in the future. If you have any tips on how you got to your job please let me know. My blog is here with my current work, not quite as extensive as i’d like yet.

Wonderful pictures!! How do you get such straight panaramic shots? Mine start twisting.
Thank you for sharing such wonderful pics! You must have fabulous memories……
Beautiful pictures, confused about the cow with antlers however. I thought at first it might be a buffalo or bison, but it just looks like a cow with antlers. Strange.
It’s an elk.
What beautiful pictures! Brings to mind the quote from Bonfils that used to grace the masthead of the Denver Post:
“‘Tis a privilege to live in Colorado!” Your pictures do great justice to our beautiful state.
Nice piccies.
Every one of these are prize shots! Amazing…I especially loved the first one. xxx
It’s always a special moment when you can observe the wildlife; in this case, the elk. It’s also amazing that the area has such a lack of snow this time of year. But I guess it’s the same with a lot of other areas of the country as well right now. Thanks for sharing these precious moments!
Wow, beautiful photos.
Awesome photos! We went camping there over the summer. You have done a great job of capturing how beautiful it is there! The first photograph makes me feel like I am there again 🙂
These are beautiful! I had a work conference in Estes Park, CO a couple of years ago and had the opportunity to go up into the Park one afternoon. Stunning views!
Beautiful, beautiful photos. Well done!
Great shots! I must learn.
I haven’t been there in a few years, but have visited the park several times with my brother and his family, who live in Boulder. It’s also one of the last places I traveled with my mother before she moved into a nursing home. We stayed in Estes Park. In the morning, there were about 20 antelopes in the motel courtyard, including a couple of very young ones. We couldn’t approach them directly, of course, but it was surprising how close the mothers were willing to let us get, maybe about 15-20′ (wild guess–it was a long time ago). Thanks for the gorgeous photos and memories.
It’s great how you capture the sun is some of these photos. Thanks for sharing your work. Connie

Very nice post, natural and beautiful…
Congratulation…
What beautiful photographs. You can almost feel like you are there amongst the natural beauty.
Lovely photos! Thank you.
Really nice. I like the one of the sun through the trees–mainly because of the perspective/angle. I find it more interesting to look at from this angle. It gives me a peaceful feeling. There’s much to look at here. The row of horizontal flares across the trees, the branch that comes creeping into the the scene from the lower right like a bony arm with bony fingers, the way the sun spills down the side of the “hilly” area and lands directly upon a small cluster of leaves on the side of a tree, making them almost translucent with a bright yellow-green coloring.
My other favorite is the camp scene at night. The colors are gorgeous! The blues of the night sky. The purple of the campfire smoke and hints of it in the sky. And the oranges, reds, and yellows of the fire and the glow it produces on the clothing, faces, and surrounding area of the fire, echoed back again in the trees near the lit building are all captivating to me.
Thank you so much for sharing your skills and what you have produced from them!
Gorgeous! Superb! Great photos, please keep up the great work!
breathtaking …..thanks for the view – so up and close 🙂
I am a Professional Travel Consultant, and I always say that some of the most beautiful scenery in the world is right here at home. It looks like you have photographed it. These pictures are great.

Very nice photos! I really liked RMNP when we visited it last summer!
Lovely! I was born and raised in Estes Park, and I must say…it’s not easy to do the beauty of the mountains justice with a photograph, but I think you more than hit that mark. Stunning photos.
Incredible images. The clouds out-wow the mountain in one. Having recently gotten into hiking with my boys, I can’t wait until they are ready for more challenging and far-flung adventures. All in due time though, The youngest just turned one!
I live in Boulder, and have been to Rocky Mountain too many times to count, and you did an amazing job capturing the beauty of the place. Thanks a bunch for sharing the sights.

This is incredible! Its such a stunning reminder of where the states come from and its so sad that the beauty of North America is so shrouded by metropolitans and man-made chaos. I would LOVE to go there one day. I can’t believe I lived the America for 13 years and never went. Such a shame. But now you’ve inspired me to make that one of the places that are now DEFINITELY on my bucket list. thanks!
